Description

The Dawner Prince Eclipsa is a rotary cabinet emulator and studio-grade preamp designed for players who want authentic moving-speaker modulation and rich front-end shaping in one compact unit. Built around a full recreation of the Yamaha RA-200 rotary cabinet system, Eclipsa captures the interaction between rotating and static speakers, creating the layered movement, width and harmonic complexity that made those cabinets such a defining sound in classic guitar recordings. It is equally at home on guitar and bass rigs, and works naturally in clean, edge-of-break-up and driven setups where dimensional movement and dynamic response matter.

Its rotary voice delivers the familiar swirl, pulse and spatial modulation associated with a real rotating speaker cabinet, but with far greater control and consistency. The transition between slow and fast speeds feels smooth and natural, while the Brake function adds another layer of expression by stopping the virtual rotor in place for dramatic tonal shifts. The blend between the rotary section and the static 4x12 speaker simulation allows players to dial in anything from subtle movement to full immersive rotation, making it practical in dense mixes and spacious stereo rigs alike.

Under the fingers, Eclipsa feels highly responsive and musical. The integrated FET-based Alembic F-2B style preamp gives the front end warmth, headroom and natural harmonic development, reacting to picking strength and guitar volume changes in a way that feels familiar to valve amp users. The Volume control can push the input harder for added saturation, while the Peak LED makes gain staging simple and reliable whether running into an amplifier, recording interface or complex switching system.

Bass, Middle and Treble offer wide tonal shaping, while the Bright switch adds extra top-end detail at lower gain settings. This makes Eclipsa more than just a rotary effect, it functions as a complete front-end tone-shaping platform capable of tightening low end, pushing mids forward or opening up the top end depending on the rig.

Internally, Eclipsa combines a sophisticated digital rotary engine with a FET-driven analogue-style preamp topology, balancing realism, tonal integrity and long-term reliability. Full MIDI implementation allows deep rig integration with Control Change and Program Change support, while 127 onboard presets provide instant recall for live and studio use. Stereo outputs built from three virtual microphone positions give the rotary image convincing width and depth without losing focus.

Its custom CNC-machined anodised aluminium enclosure feels built for serious use, with excellent structural rigidity and long-term pedalboard reliability. The graphics are clear and stage-friendly, making quick adjustments easy under low lighting.
