Description

The LPD Pedals JMP79 Preamp is a compact overdrive unit designed to replicate the tone of a late 1970s British stack, classic growl, rich warmth and punchy vintage voice, without the weight and complexity of a full size amp. It slots neatly into any pedalboard or amp setup, acting as a preamp boost, gain stage or tonal centre depending on how you use it.

The LPD Pedals JMP79 delivers snarling rock tones, dynamic response, and creamy distortion that ride your pick dynamics and guitar volume control beautifully. Whether you're dialling in tight rhythm crunch or soaring lead tones, it reacts musically and with character. The low end is full, the midrange bold, and with the three way Bright cap switch you can fine tune the high end, from biting presence to smoother shimmer, to suit your guitar or amp’s voicing.

Controls feel solid under your fingertips thanks to custom aluminium knobs and Alpha style pots chosen for just the right tension. Switching is nearly silent and intuitive, soft touch true bypass with built in last state memory means your tone stays stable and your signal path stays clean, even when the pedal is off.

On board are six carefully calibrated controls, Preamp, Master, Bass, Middle, Treble, Presence, so you can sculpt anything from vintage classic British crunch to hotter gain with clarity and punch. The EQ section is broad enough to boost cut or presence without making your sound harsh, and the bright switch gives precise control over edge and sparkle.

Behind the scenes, the circuit mimics the gain stages and clipping behaviour of its tube amp inspiration, scaled down to a reliable 9V design. Lawrence Petross, LPD’s founder, analysed classic tube amp circuits for years and designed this to respond like the real thing: dynamic, harmonically rich, and highly playable.

The build is a cast aluminium enclosure finished in a rugged powder coat, sized to fit easily on any board. Jacks and the power input are arranged for tidy pedalboard setup and easy access. Inside, Lawrence has chosen high quality components throughout, from the pots to the custom aluminium footswitch and power filtering system, ensuring rock ready durability and low noise even in demanding live situations.

A bright red LED indicates power and effect status immediately, helping you stay in control under stage lighting. The true bypass circuit keeps your signal path pristine when the effect is disengaged.

You can rely on the LPD Pedals JMP79 for consistency. It comes with a manufacturer’s warranty, giving you confidence that your investment is protected and built to last.

In summary, the LPD Pedals JMP79 gives you classic late ’70s British tone in portable form. Its growl, definition and dynamic response make it tone rich and musical. Intuitive controls, solid switching and purposeful circuit design create an inspiring tool for rhythm and lead players alike. If you're after vintage punch and modern reliability, this unit brings that classic voice into today’s rig, without fuss, just focused tone.
